Metadata, essentially data about data, plays a critical role in organizing, discovering, and managing information in various domains such as digital libraries, data warehouses, and web services. Metadata management tools are designed to handle data about other data, facilitating improved data governance, quality, and value across an organization. These tools help in categorizing, cataloging, and controlling an organization’s data assets, making it easier to understand, access, and use the data effectively.
